UNM School of Engineering students are a diverse group.
Our multicultural environment reflects a cross-section of Native American, Hispanic & Latino, African American, Anglo, and other cultures and backgrounds.
Some students are first generation.
Many are fresh out of high school; others are employed and returning to complete their education.
While some students are from Albuquerque, others are from rural areas. Some are from other US cities and a few come from other countries.
The SOE has services to help all these students succeed. See Engineering Student Services for more information about services, including advising, tutoring, mentoring, and scholarships.
Engineering Student Services also coordinates a variety of programs for under-represented students, ranging from pre-K science, technology, engineering and math summer workshops to the UNM chapter of Women in Science and Engineering.
Be sure to review the many student organizations offering community, networking, and fun. You don’t have to be part of an ethnic or minority group to join. Everyone is welcome!
