High school students, transfer students and their families are invited to see what makes the UNM engineering and computer science undergraduate degree programs so special.

  • The Princeton Review ranked the UNM School of Engineering 14th out of the top 20 graduate engineering programs.
  • The National Research Council ranks UNM’s Chemical Engineering program in the top 50 nationwide.
  • The 11:1 undergraduate student-to-faculty ratio at the UNM School of Engineering is lower than many private universities.
  • Engineering and computer science continue to be top-paying majors, with average starting salaries over $60,000.
  • The demand for engineers will expand 11% by 2018, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

chem-e-labAt the Open House, you'll learn about career-launching degree programs, research that solves global challenges, and a variety of services and programs designed to help students succeed.

Visit labs, see student projects, and meet faculty, staff and students. An informational presentation will be given on degrees and programs, student services, financial aid, scholarship, and much more.


Demos and Lab Tours

  • Concrete or steel…which one is stronger? We’ll show you the answer by crushing both!
  • See a demo of a computer program that simulates highways and traffic systems, just like a computer game
  • Visit the LOBO MotorSports lab and see UNM's formula SAE race cars
  • Visit the environmental lab and see how environmental engineers clean up the environment and make water safe for you to drink
  • Visit the ARTS Lab and see media production, computer graphics, and video gaming in an immersive dome environment

There will be a lot more demos, student presentations and lab tours, plus fun hands-on activities and refreshments. Reservations are not necessary. We look forward to seeing you!

PARKING

Parking at UNM is free on Saturdays except in reserved spots. Suggested parking is in Lots A, B and C (also free on Saturdays). Parking in UNM Parking Garages (Cornell Garage and Lomas Garage) is $1.75/hour. UNM Parking Map (5.35 MB PDF).
